ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif Monday said he was facing a ‘difficult time’ at jail. “Jail is a jail … with jail comes the hardship,” he told reporters after arriving at the Parliament House. To a question, he said undergoing medical examinations is his right, but, somehow, it always gets delayed. The leader of the opposition arrived at the Parliament House to attend session of the Lower House. A team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) escorted Shehbaz to Islamabad from Lahore via motorway. NA Speaker Asad Qaiser had issued a production order of the PML-N president to enable him attend the session. Soon after his arrival, PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq held a meeting with the former Punjab chief minister and also inquired about his health. PML-N spokeswoman Marriyum Aurangzeb was also present on the occasion. The meeting discussed parliamentary affairs and the NAB cases pending against the Sharif family. Earlier in the day, a NAB court approved a one-day transit remand of the opposition leader so that he could attend the NA session. A request for Shehbaz’s transit remand was submitted by Prosecutor Waris Januja on behalf of the jail superintendent. The court approved the jail superintendent’s request and granted one-day transit remand of the PML-N president. Shehbaz’s residence in the Ministers Enclave has been declared a sub-jail where he will stay. Published in Daily Times, December 11th 2018.
