LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Saturday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had done so much work in their first 100 days that they could set a record. During an informal talk with journalists in Lahore, the provincial chief minister said, “Prime Minister Imran Khan is a simple man and maybe that is the reason why he likes me. I had no such virtue to become a chief minister but it is God’s grace” Stating that he is trying his best to meet expectations, Buzdar said, “The government has done so much in the first 100 days that a record could be set.” “There are many challenges in the province but my resolve is stronger. I want to serve the people of my province,” he said, adding: “We will present our 100 days performance to the people and will tell them that we have decided our priorities and way forward for the next five years. We will also tell the public about our five-year plan. Our way is clear and straight, and our resolve is concrete; therefore, support of Allah Almighty will be with us.” He said that he had announced a package of billions of rupees for Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa and Barthi, and added that South Punjab secretariat will start working from the next year. To a question, he said that the development of Lahore was confined to one area only. “The issue of clean drinking water will also be resolved and the people will see change soon.” Responding to another question, Buzdar said, “The Police Reforms Commission is working and results will be seen soon. Nasir Durrani resigned owing to ill health.” Referring to the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Punjab, he said land worth billions of rupees ahd been retrieved during the operation. “We are establishing the land bank of the retrieved land during the operation,” he said, adding that he was monitoring the drive himself. Separately, the chief minister Saturday said that that corruption had badly damaged the roots of Pakistan. In his message on International Anti-Corruption Day, he said corruption had spread disappointment and unrest in the country. “The PTI has come to power to uproot corruption. There is no place for corrupt people in New Pakistan. The zero tolerance policy for corruption has been adopted.” He said that every segment of the society should work for elimination of corruption. He said the PTI government had resolved to end corruption in every sector. He said the purpose of the day was to create awareness about the importance of eliminating corruption. “This is the day to renew our resolve to eliminate corruption from the society.” Published in Daily Times, December 9th 2018.
