The City police were providing full cooperation to the district government in its ongoing operation against encroachments across the city. In a statement, Punjab Police Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Muhammad Waqas Nazir said that security had been provided to anti encroachment staff of the district government and other departments concerned during the operation. “We are also ensuring that encroachments are not surfaced again after the operation.” He further said that release of land from squatter was also in progress. “All SPs have been issued necessary directions in this regard.” Separately, SP Cantonment Division Muhammad Asif Ameen said that the division police had recovered 14 pistols, six guns, one rifle, 82 bullets, 439 bottles of liquor, one kilogramme charas and more than Rs 81,000. “As many as eight accused of three gangs have been arrested and Rs 90,000 have been recovered from them. Moreover, 27 accused have been booked on violation of one wheeling, aerial firing, price control and Sound System Act.” Meanwhile, DSP Shafiqabad Muhammad Riaz delivered an awareness lecture to students of Government Boys High School Qilla Lakhshman Singh Ravi Road on drug abuse.
