Sir: Through this piece of writing I want to draw attention of concerned authorities to alarming outbreak of HIV and hepatitis in our area. Kashmore district is rapidly advancing towards a public health nightmare. Many cases of HIV are reported throughout the district. Factually, this disease is transformable if not controlled timely the number of cases of the epidemic will go up. According to the Asian Epidemic Modelling conducted in 2015, the primary mode of HIV transmission in Pakistan continues to be the use of contaminated injection equipment among people who inject drugs (PWID). Some more causes of spread of such diseases are unprotected sexual activity and utilization of unhygienic food and water. It is right time for the district health sector to divert focus on life-taking epidemic by formulating a body for giving awareness to public. Also there is dire need of establishing HIV and hepatitis centres which should be tasked to treat already affected patients and vaccine all remaining members of every home, in this way, we can mitigate the risks of such viral diseases and can save all the other people of area vulnerable to this malady.
