Water Commission chief Justice (r) Ameer Speaking in the session, Mother of Zaeem, expressed what she had gone through 2 and a half year ago when she came to know that her child is suffering from Autism Disease. Being thankful to the Dow University of Health Sciences, she said that her child is able to perform the daily routine activities within one and a half year after he was kept under treatment at DUHS. Hani Muslim visited Badin on Monday and directed a private company to make the reverse osmosis (RO) plants in the area functional within a week. During his visit, disgruntled citizens of Badin shared their grievances with the judge who was visiting the area on Supreme Court (SC) orders. The citizens said that a private company called Pak Oasis had installed RO plants and ultra filtration plants near water supply ponds but the plants had all been non-functional since fourt months and the citizens were deprived of potable water. The WC head then directed the company in-charge to make RO plants functional within a week. He also directed the in-charge to make the ultra filtration plants operational within a times pan of four days. Citizens informed the WC head that another problem faced by them was water theft. They said that water was being siphoned off in Alipur regulator through water courses, lift machines and pipes. The citizens complained that growers and cultivators were facing hefty losses due to water theft. They further said that water theft was depriving citizens of Badin from their own share of potable water. The WC head then directed the irrigation secretary and Badin deputy commissioner (DC) to remove all pipes, lift machines and other devices aiding water theft through assistance of Rangers. He also summoned a comprehensive report from the authorities regarding resolution of the issue. Earlier, Justice (r) Hani visited both banks of Kazia canal. A large number of citizens gathered there and presented their complaints to him on the occasion. Citizens said that the Badin administration had failed to supply potable water to citizens and that had resulted in thousands of residents consuming contaminated water. The residents told the CM that encroachments had not been removed from the city. They said that huts and shelters of poor people were demolished during the drive but influential people benefitted from it. Residents also informed the WC head that employees of the ultra filtration plants had not been paid their salaries since four months and those plants had shut down since four months.
