NAUNDERO: A village named Koreja located near Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto is facing faculty shortage as only five teachers have been posted to impart education to 371 enrolled students in government boy’s primary school in Naundero. It was revealed by the headmistress of the school, Abida Chajro, when a team of media persons visited the school on Saturday to see if Sindh government’s education emergency has brought change to this most vital sector of the society. The team were astonished when they found out that little boys and girls getting education while sitting on floor in the corridor under open sky in the cold weather. Moreover, number of students was higher as compared to the furniture available in the school, media reported. Ms. Chajro told Daily Times that their school requires at least 10 more teachers to cope with the current situation in order to provide proper quality education, adding that even if the government provides only three more teachers, we can try to make the situation better. She also complained that two teachers were transferred without any reason recently from the school without providing their substitute which created problems for them. The headmistress further said that the school also needs three to four more classrooms along with required furniture in order to bring change in the existing atmosphere as boys & girls getting education in open skies. Muhammad Nawaz, local resident, said that Sindh Government’s so called claim of imposing education emergency in the province has been exposed as none of schools in the area have proper faculty or furniture. The villagers told that they already tried informing the relevant district education officer in Larkana about the schools conditions but still no action has been taken so far. They demanded the government to take notice to fulfill all basic requirements which are essential for any school so that future of their kids is not put at risk.
