The Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) has beefed up its crackdown by providing real-time data of blacklisted vehicles to the ground teams comprising Police Response Unit, Dolphin Squad and City Traffic Police on Saturday. According to details, the PSCA has intercepted 20 black listed vehicles in pursuit of 200 plus unpaid challans recovering an amount of Rs 150,000 for the national exchequer. The vehicles detained were by Suzuki, Honda and Toyota, also including an auto rickshaw, commercial vans and motorbikes. The maximum number of e-challans due on one Suzuki Mehran owner went up to 33 when the same was captured while on road and Rs 16,500 was recovered. Two vehicle owners owed payments on more than 30 e-challans whereas more than seven owners had more than 10 unpaid e-challans pending on their accounts. The remaining who submitted fines immediately had less than 10 pending e-challans to clear with PSCA. All vehicle owners accepted the negligence on their part and amicably submitted the amounts that they owed to the national exchequer. “We are awe-stricken by such efficient traffic management system and ensure that we will always be responsible on roads,” said one conscientious citizen while requiring his vehicle. “This is a deterring experience of a lifetime,” commented another citizen.
