Sir: Barakahu suburb of Islamabad which is densely populated after the tragic Earth Quake of year 2004. This area is full of natural scenic beauty surrounded by hills but it has become an area of many social issues due to mismanagement and poor planning of CDA Islamabad. The major issue is traffic problem which has become the routine matter, mostly on the weekends as it is situated on the Murree Road which is the only passage for tourists of Northern areas and local residents. The shopkeepers and hawkers as aggravated the situation to the unavoidable extend which is very painful, stressful and a cause of depression for sensitive and sensible people living here. The taxi drivers wander and park in haphazard way in search of their livelihood, create a mess which is not less in anyway troublesome situation for the tourists and local residents. If the concerned authorities would not take timely discussion to solve this serious social issue, it would be uncontrollably gigantic social problem. The district management authorities, CDA, local body and the traffic police should take it seriously and join hands to minimize its gravity and to check its rapid growth. In a nutshell, to reduce this social issue government should erect the parking plazas, provision of taxi stands and government land to the hawkers and ‘thellay walas’ on daily rent basis. The traffic authorities should strictly discourage the parking in careless way to private vehicles and the shopkeepers should not be allowed to display their goods out of the boundary of their shops on the road.
