RAWALPINDI: Police have detained a citizen in a drug case scandal following allegations made by an informer.

Government servant Muhammad Amir Hussain claimed that “police officials of Sadiqabad picked up my brother-in-law Muhammad Sajid from his residence on October 28 without any lawful justification. When I came to know about this, I went to the police station and inquired the reason of detaining my brother-in-law from Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Qaiser Nadeem who informed us that they were involved in a drug case, but he did not give me any evidence neither showed me any drugs recovered from him. Meanwhile, when I met my brother-in-law in the lockup, he mentioned that he had a brief scuffle with a person called Qadeer who had threatened him of dire consequences. Qadeer is allegedly a drug dealer and has good relations with these police officials”.

However his brother-in-law was later released after the police managed to collect bail money from his family but then lodged a First Information Report against him as well.

Muhammad Amir Hussain also claims that a police man harassed his sister when they came to arrest his brother-in-law.

“I have submitted an application to the City Police Officer for the dismissal of this fake FIR, whose inquiry is pending in the Deputy Superintendent Police New Town office,” he informed.

A noble of the locality namely Raja Daud, who has also visited the DSP’s office and recorded his statement in favour of Muhammad Sajid and his family claimed that he is an honest citizen and the FIR registered against him is fake.

“He should be discharged from the case,” he said.

When contacted, Investigation Officer of the case ASI Qaiser Nadeem refused the allegation and said that Sajid is a professional drug dealer. He also confirmed that Qadeer was also a drug dealer.

It is pertinent to mention that fake drug recovery cases by the police officials were reported earlier this year as well.
