South Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho told a gathering at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) that an anti-riots force will be established soon in the city. South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Odho said that curbing street crime was the topmost priority of the police department. He further said that maintaining peace was a collective effort and business community played a vital role in it. He said that a special antiriot force would be introduced soon in order to control the situation after protests. He also urged the authorities to map a broad-based strategy to curb such situations. KATI President Danish Khan said that any hindrance in industrial activity due to protests or lawlessness directly harmed the national economy which was already suffering. KITE chairman Zubair Chhaya said that there was a need to speed up reforms for betterment in police culture. Former presidents of KATI, Tariq Malik, Masood Naqi, Farhan-ur-Rehman, Farukh Mazher and others also attended the meeting. Published in Daily Times, November 8th 2018.
