What about us?

Author: Haider Rifaat

I am not what society thinks I am,

I am who I think I am,

I am not one gender, but both

They ask, “Care to specify?”

What more should you know?

Am I not enough? Is my existence a shame?

I plead for justice, but I am to blame

I am boxed in my thoughts, I fear to confess,

They hate my name, how dare I express?

The world says we are with you,

I say, hypocrisy defines you

My gender is mine, it is not a fuss,

I question the world,

What about us?
