LARKANA: Primary Teachers Association (PTA) Sindh President Shafi Muhammad Sathyo on Tuesday vowed to take a stern action against ghost employees and teachers in all schools of Sindh province. He urged primary teachers to respect their profession and provide quality education to students in an effective manner. Sathyo said that PTA leaders have been invited by the Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah for negotiations to resolve pending issues being faced by teachers. He said that there were approximately 125,000 teachers in Sindh and their issues were not resolved. He said issues of suspension and reinstatement of 200 teachers, appointment of teachers who had passed National Testing Service (NTS) and Sindh University examination, shifting benevolent fund powers from deputy commissioner authority to education director, and installation of biometric system on district level to monitor attendance of every employee of the education department would be discussed in the meeting with the minister. He said that teachers have been performing their duties in general elections, anti-polio drives, population and census duties and preparation of voters lists honestly, but their rights were neglected. He said that teachers have been given a target to spread education and enhance enrollment in Sindh. He said that the teaching community would try its best to counsel and motivate out-of-school children to acquire education. Sathyo said that the World Teachers Day would be observed on October 5 when the teaching community would pledge to discharge their respective duties in an appropriate manner for uplifting education in the country. “However, we need to strive with determination to eradicate illiteracy for development and prosperity of Pakistan,” he added. Besides, he was accompanied by Gul Hassan Chandio, Ghulamullah Sangi, Nadim Shaikh and Manthar Jagirani. He said that PTA elections would be held in 29 districts of Sindh in the coming month of December 2018 during winter vacations. Published in Daily Times, October 3rd 2018.
