Okay, ‘Game of Thrones’ fans, we’re starting to get a little worried about the series finale. First, Kit Harington (Jon Snow) gave this ominous tease: “I think not everyone’s going to be happy, you know, and you can’t please everyone.” Then it was Iain Glen’s (Jorah) turn: “The bottom line is I’m sure we’ll not please everyone across the board.” And now, speaking to IGN, Sophie Turner revealed her reaction to reading the finale script. “A lot of tears. I think, you know, as an actor it was really satisfying — I think for everyone, everyone’s storylines — to be able to act out the way that it all ends. It was really satisfying for us. Who knows if it will be satisfying for the fans. I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think. I think it will be really interesting to see people’s reactions, but for me reading the script it was just like heartbreaking to read at the very final page of the script it just says, ‘End of Game of Thrones’. That was really emotional.” Whoa there, Turner; way to give away the last words of the script. Can’t we get a spoiler alert? Anyway, does this feel like the cast is softening us up for an especially painful final episode? Not for the first time, 2019 seems an eternity away. Turner also described Sansa’s season 8 journey, in broad strokes, of course: “She kind of takes ownership over who she is and what she stands for. Over the course of the series she’s been completely unaware of what she wants, where she wants to be, who she really is, and at the end of this season, I feel she is the most self-assured character in the show.” Sounds like a worthy ending, although it’ll be hard to say goodbye to the character. Turner agrees, and describes saying farewell to Sansa and the show as “really bittersweet.” Published in Daily Times, September 29th 2018.
