The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday admitted a plea seeking Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif’s disqualification and issued notices to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and respondent. Justice Mamoon Rashid heard the case pertaining to plea seeking disqualification of Khawaja Asif who had won NA-73 seat in 2018General Election. On September 22, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Usman Dar had challenged Khawaja Asif’s victory. In his petition, Dar contended that Khawaja Asif had submitted an unverified affidavit along with his nomination papers. The petition stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had failed to implement the Election Act. The plea requested the court to annul the victory notification of Khawaja Asif.
