Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister (CM) for Information Barrister Murtaza Wahab criticised the joint opposition’s initiative of submitting a resolution against the construction of Kalabagh Dam in Sindh Assembly and called it a ploy to get publicity. While issuing his statement, Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that Kalabagh Dam was a dead issue since the Sindh Assembly had already passed a resolution against it and the Balochistan and KPK assemblies had also rejected it. “This is a controversial issue and people of Pakistan do not want to construct Kalabagh Dam,” said CM’s advisor adding that the opposition parties were stirring up the issue only to get publicity. “Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is a national party which adheres to democratic principles. PPP will never compromise on public interests and always uphold the public opinion,” said Barrister Wahab. “Kalabagh Dam has been a controversial issue since day one and it is totally against the solidarity and integrity of Pakistan,” he added. Lambasting the opposition for passing the resolution, Barrister Wahab said, “Assembly is a constitutional institution and the opposition should focus on resolving problems of people. If the opposition takes more interest in legislation geared towards resolution of public’s problems, we can achieve positive results.” Barrister Wahab added that the PPP government was taking measures to improve the quality of life of common man.
