Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation (ET) Mukesh Kumar Chawla, while presiding over a meeting on Sunday, said that Rs 12,273.857 million (m) had been recovered in terms of various taxes during the current fiscal year. Minister Chawla said that in the same timeframe during the last financial year Rs 10,385.752 m, were recovered in terms of taxes. During the meeting Excise and Taxation Director General Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh also presented a breakdown of taxes which were recovered in the current fiscal year. He informed the meeting that Rs 1178.313 m was recovered in terms of Motor Vehicle Tax, Rs 9409.767 m in the way of Infrastructure Cess Tax, Rs 106.455 were recovered in Professional Tax. He said that Rs 745.532 m were recovered in head of Property Tax, Rs 16 m were collected in Entertainment Duty whereas the remaining amount was recovered in other taxes. On this, the provincial minister for ET expressed his satisfaction over the tax recovery status. Chawla also directed the officials to focus on tax recovery and ensure the success of the tax recovery process. Excise and Taxation Secretary Aijaz Ahmed Mahessar, Director General Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh , Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other relevant ET officials attended the meeting.
