ABU DHABI: All-rounder Shoaib Malik’s brilliant knock saved Pakistan from an upset after giant killers Afghanistan gave tough time in the Super Four stages of the Asia Cup on Friday.

Afghanistan’s team batted beautifully against Pakistani bowlers and set the target of 258-runs.

However, Afghan batsman Hashmatullah Shahidi and Asghar Afghan played their important role by scoring 97, 67 runs respectively.

While chasing the target, Pakistan’s start was not good as Fakhar Zaman got out on a duck.

But young guns Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam got the team back on the track with their responsible innings.

In the crucial moments of the match, Malik took the charge, hit a six and a boundary when 10 runs were required in the final over. He scored 51 of 43 balls.

Malik was also declared man of the match after an epic battle.

People all over the world were highly impressed with Malik’s incredible innings. Here how twitter reacted to Malik’s match-winning innings.

Journalist Mazher Arshad tweeted that Malik played like Dhoni.

Here another tweet on last night’s match.

Sport’s Analyst Farhan Nisar praised Malik’s knock and tweeted that “the 36-year-old is still Pakistan best batsman in crisis.”

On September 23, Pakistan will be facing India in the Super Four Stages in Dubai tomorrow.
