Sir: University of Sindh (UoS) is one of the largest universities of Pakistan, which was established in 1947 and is situated in District Jamshoro. Now days some people have even talked about the university getting an ISO certification sometime in the near future. Things definitely seem to be looking up. However, over the past few years, the University of Sindh has been facing a number of issues, chief among them a serious lack of clean drinking water. Water is a basic need for all living beings and without it we just cannot survive.
In the Department of Zoology, I have personally faced a serious water shortage for the past two years. Many students have to visit the shops and buy bottles of mineral water because the college does not provide them with adequate drinking water itself, instead for a few departments who might get some unfiltered water at times. One day I visited probably 18 to 20 departments for searching filtered water but unfortunately there was no filtered water, in even one department. In fact it is almost impossible to get filtered water on the premises unless you buy it in a bottle. Even the water cooler in front of the main gate of the Vice Chancellor’s House has unfiltered water, while many students get the same type of water in their hostels as well.
It is my humble request to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sindh, Jamshoro to kindly take steps to at least provide us with one water cooler that has filtered and clean water, in every department.
