ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed all the preparations for the upcoming by-elections, sources reported on Wednesday. Polling for 36 constituencies will take place October 14. Out of these 36 constituencies, 11 constituencies are for the National Assembly (NA) slots while 25 constituencies are for provincial assemblies. According to the reports, the printing process will begin after the public holiday of Youm-e-Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram-ul-Haram. Ballot papers for the by-elections will be printed by the Printing Corporation of Pakistan, the sources added. Owing to security purposes Rangers and Frontier Corps are expected to be deployed at the state-owned printing presses. A total of 96, 00,000 ballot papers will be printed for 36 constituencies, sources further said. Similarly, 17, 00,000 ballot papers will be printed for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and 67, 00,000 for Punjab and Islamabad. Moreover, the National Security Printing Press will print ballot papers for Balochistan and Sindh. While Post Foundation Printing Press will print for Punjab and Islamabad. Similarly, the Printing Press Corporation will publish ballot papers for KP, sources apprised. For the first time in history, overseas Pakistanis will be able to cast their votes in the by-elections. The registration process for 7,410 overseas voters from 74 countries was completed on September 17.
