Provincial Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfaraz presided over a syndicate meeting at Okara University on Tuesday. OU Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Zikriya Zakir, Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Nizamuddin and other members attended the meeting. Administrative and financial issues were discussed during the meeting. The committee approved the recruitment on important vacant posts and also gave permission to establish a science laboratory in the university. On the occasion, the minister said that this government would ensure meritocracy in nominating members on the syndicate of public sector universities. “We would ensure presence of whistle blowers and experts of field on the syndicate for meaningful contribution in the higher education sector. Almost 80 percent of the public sector universities are working on ad-hocism. We will request to the chancellor to direct the universities to fill in the statutory positions through competitive process within three months,” it was decided.
