Shikarpur district, considered as the most sensitive district of Sindh, has once again been declared sensitive during the month of Moharram because the district suffered from at least five bomb blasts since 2010 during Moharram. In view of this, the district administration, on Friday, decided to close the entry and exit points of Shikarpur district on the 9th and 10th of Moharram (Ashura). Commissioner Larkana Akram Ali Khowaja conducted a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shikarpur Syed Hassan Raza, Senior Superintendent Police Shikarpur Sarfraz Nawaz Shaikh and other officers of the district to review the security arrangements during Moharram. During the meeting, it was told that control rooms have also been established to monitor all of the activities at various parts of the city while 1638 police personnel and Rangers personnel have been deployed to cope with any untoward situation. The Municipal Corporation and Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) were directed to properly maintain cleanliness in the city and change the timing of load shedding during Moharram for safety of the routes of procession. The DC briefed the Commissioner and other participants that there are a total of 87 Imambargahs and out of them, six were declared most sensitive. From these six most sensitive Imambargahs, four are in Shikarpur city, one in Khanpur and one is situated in Lakhi Ghulam Shah tehsil. Out of 87, eight Imambargahs were declared sensitive. He also told that the Imambargahs of Chak, Khahi, Imrote Sharif, Hamayoon, Allahabad Colony and Jamra would be strictly monitored by the police officers to maintain the law and order situation. The DC also told the participants that he has conducted meetings with the concerned officers of Heatlh department, Local Government department and SEPCO Shikarpur and directed them to arrange all necessary facilities for the mourners so that they can be facilitated in the best possible manner. He informed the participants that he has conducted meetings with the clerics of different religious parties as well to keep religious harmony and follow the code of conduct enforced by the Sindh government during the month of Moharram to avoid any inappropriate incident. The SSP Shikarpur unveiled the strategy of police department and vowed that the code of conduct will be implemented and no one will be allowed to take law into their own hands. Later, the commissioner Larkana visited Punj Pir, Jhanghal Shah, Dolat Shah, and other Imambargah and acclaimed the tremendous efforts of the district administration. Police apprehend motorcycle snatchers The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Police Shikarpur, on Friday, claimed to have apprehended hardcore criminals who were involved in snatching motorcycles from the link road next to Lakhi Ghulam Shah Town of Shikarpur. According to an official, the CIA police headed by Abdul Qadir Chandio, after getting a tip, carried out a raid near Lakhi Ghulam Shah and arrested a robber namely Azizullah Shaikh, resident of Bhittai Colony Shikarpur, with a pistol. During the interrogation, it was revealed that he has snatched motorcycles along with Mohammed Qasim Sanjrani. The police acted promptly and arrested Qasim Sanjrani as well and confiscated a pistol from his possession. The police also recovered two motorcycles from their possession.
