JAMSHORO: The sophomores of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Sindh (SU) organised, on Thursday, a seminar under the theme, ‘We are the Future’, with the Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat as the Chief Guest. The vice president Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zakaullah, renowned businessmen Ziauddin Jaffry and Imran Khan and prominent academics Professor Anwer Ali Shah, G.Sayed and Professor Dr Pitafi were the speakers at the seminar which was held at the Shaikh Ayaz auditorium of the university. The purpose of organizing the seminar was to develop sustainable liaison between the university and industrial sector, initiation of research in the industry- academia context and familiarize the students to the dynamics of the job-market and professional opportunities available therein. The VC said that the universities should stay connected to the industrial sector so that the students get to know the real problems of the industrial sector. He added that the higher education institutions were morally obliged to provide ready, competent and committed human resource to the business sector as per the latter’s specific demands. “The youth is Pakistan’s future. The world is rapidly changing and to catch up with this fast moving mechanism, we need to shift our attention and invest our energy in the corporate culture, which has literally taken over the globe”, the VC said. Dr. Burfat further said that the people only face opposition to the new reforms they introduced because those new reforms could bring the “business” of certain quarters to a standstill and those quarters, after getting furious, launch character- assassination campaign and conspiracies against those who initiated those reforms. The VC eulogized the efforts of Sindh University IBA Director Professor Dr Syed Abdul Sattar Shah and IBA- Sophomore team to successfully organize the seminar. Earlier, Professor Dr Syed Abdul Sattar presented the welcome address and explained the aims and objectives of the seminar.
