Realising the hurt caused by his controversial remarks over Begum Kulsoom’s illness, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senator Aitzaz Ahsan on Tuesday apologised to the Sharif family, but only after the passing of the former first lady.
Earlier this year, the veteran politician had alleged that Begum Kulsoom’s illness was an excuse for the Sharif family to delay the accountability trial. He also accused the family of owning the clinic where the deceased remained under treatment. While speaking to a private TV channel on Tuesday, Ahsan apologised to the Sharif family for his remarks, saying that he regretted to have hurt the family. He also expressed his grief over Begum Kulsoom’s death, saying that she was a pious person who had rendered valuable services for democracy.
