LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a high-level meeting at his office on Tuesday in which proposals regarding the establishment of police reforms commission were reviewed in detail. The meeting was briefed about the establishment of police reforms commission in the province. Addressing the meeting, the Punjab chief minister said that reforms are being introduced in the police and added that no one could interfere in the police duty under these reforms. Police will be made totally neutral and a public service institution which would come up to the expectations of the general public. He said that police was responsible to redress the grievances of the people and serving the complainants is the fundamental responsibility of the police. He directed that matters pertaining to establishment of police reforms commission should be settled and recommendations should be given final shape at the earliest. Punjab chief secretary, additional chief secretary (Home) and others attended the meeting. A delegation of Nazaria Pakistan Trust (NPT) and Tehreek-i-Pakistan Workers Trust also called on Punjab CM Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office. Talking on the occasion, the CM said that services of NPT and Tehreek-i-Pakistan Workers Trust are praiseworthy and work has been performed actively to sensitise the new generation about the great struggle of Muslims for a separate homeland. He said that Pakistan was created under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah after a great struggle and the hard work of the Quaid-e-Azam carries a message for us. He said that policies and vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan is being moved forward and government is working hard to provide better facilities to the people. Important reforms will be introduced in health, education, tourism and other sectors to provide better services to the people. “We are fully committed to the people and are moving towards the right direction,” he said, adding that he belongs to the people and therefore, is well aware of their problems. The delegation of NPT and Tehreek-i-Pakistan Workers Trust congratulated Sardar Usman Buzdar on becoming CM. NPT Secretary Shahid Rasheed said, “We are happy that a person belonging to the middle class family has become the CM and our good wishes are with you.” The delegation was headed by Justice (r) Mian Mahboob Ahmed. Provincial Adviser Akram Chaudhry was also present on the occasion. Deputy Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Shahid Akhtar Alvi also called on Usman Buzdar at his office. During the meeting, various issues including professional matters of the Pakistan Air Force came under discussion. The CM paid tributes to PAF over wonderfully protecting the air frontiers of the country and said that PAF was one of the best air forces in the world. The training standards of PAF are the best, he said, adding that PAF had written a history of bravery while protecting the air frontiers of the country and the nation was proud of its air force. He said that the role of PAF will be written in golden words in war against terrorism and added that PAF’s role in various sectors of national development was praiseworthy and its services in improving the health and education sectors were commendable. In his message on the martyrdom anniversary of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Buzdar said that he sacrificed his life in the line of duty to protect the motherland and to keep the national flag high. He failed the nefarious designs of the enemy and was a man of patriotism and bravery. Today, we should reiterate this commitment that we will make every effort to protect the motherland, he concluded. Buzdar said that the dream of the Muslims of Indo-Pak subcontinent of an independent homeland of their own was materialised under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In his message, the CM said that we are living as an independent nation today because of Jinnah and added that Jinnah was a man of principle and a courageous leader who dreamt of establishing a society based on the principles of tolerance, forbearance and brotherhood. He said the motto of unity, faith and discipline of Jinnah was guarantor of progress and prosperity of the country and Pakistan can get rid of all crises by following his golden principles. “We will have to utilise all our energies to make the country prosperous,” concluded the CM. Buzdar also felicitated BA/BSc toppers and said that they have made their parents and teachers proud with their hard work. “Talented students are our asset and a symbol of bright future of the country,” concluded the CM.
