LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfraz Ahmed has announced that the entire squad will donate Rs3.2 million for the construction of dams in the country. Speaking to media at the Gaddafi Stadium here Monday, Sarfraz said that building of dams would benefit the country in the future. “The public should actively contribute to the dam fund, it will benefit the country,” he said. “Pakistan cricket team will contribute Rs3.2 million to the dam fund. Players who are part of Asia Cup squad will donate Rs.0.2 million each towards this project,” he added. Earlier, Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar contributed $10,000 to the dams fund project. Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar kick-started the initiative by donating Rs.1 million for the two dams and urged all institutions and individuals to play their due role for the construction of the dams in the country. Prime Minister Imran Khan has also backed this initiative and appealed to the countrymen, especially overseas Pakistanis, to generously contribute for building new dams.
