Sir: I want to draw attention to the fact that the Congo virus has been spreading in Pakistan, day by day. Recently, 20-years-old Pervaiz, who is from Karachi, was taken to Jinnah hospital where he showed the symptoms of the Congo Crimen Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), and in August of this year, another man was also diagnosed with this disease. According to Dr Seemin Jamali, there are three patients under treatment for this virus at Jinnah hospital, of which two are from Quetta, while the third one is from Karachi. She further added that eleven patients in total had been hospitalised in Pakistan so far in 2018. It’s my humble request to the government of Pakistan to do something so that the spread of the virus can be contained. Save innocent human lives today, and do not wait till the problem becomes too widespread to be handled effectively. NADIA ASLAM Turbat Published in Daily Times, September 8th 2018.
