KARACHI: Police, in different raids on Monday, rounded up 30 people suspected of involvement in the attacks on a Samaa TV channel assistant cameraman, who was shot and killed Sunday night. Unidentified assailants opened fire on Samaa TV channel’s Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) van on Sunday near the city’s KDA Chowrangi. In the attack, a 22-year-old assistant cameraman identified as Taimur, who had been present in the vehicle at the time, died after being shot. Sources said the armed attackers came up from behind the van on motorcycles and opened fire. The cameraman, who was initially injured in the attack, succumbed to his injuries. A medical officer at the hospital said that one bullet had hit Taimur’s neck. Police officials informed said that a 9MM pistol had been used in the attack while a shell was also recovered from the scen of the crime. Central Area Senior Superintendent of Police said they had cordoned off the area for investigation.
