LARKANA: Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani on Thursday reiterated on Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) decision to nominate Senator Aitzaz Ahsan for the slot of presidency. Reportedly, he spoke to the media after paying visits to several localities of Larkana to inspect the cleanliness situation of the district. He denounced a perception built against PPP of weakening the grand opposition alliance by saying that Aitzaz Ahsan’s rendered more sacrifices for the sake of democracy. He remarked that the party’s nominee has an unparallel experience and political insight while dealing with the critical issues of the country. Ghani expressed profound concerns over the demand of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) that Aitzaz Ahsan should apologise to Nawaz Sharif for speaking against his corruption and incompetence, and revealed that other political parties would benefit from the persistent deadlock emerged in the opposition parties. He expressed dissatisfaction over the heaps of garbage and sanitary sewer overflow, and asserted that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has warned all ministers to resolve issues in their respective constituencies on the priority basis or otherwise, they would not be allowed to govern for five years. He said that the issue of encroachment in Larkana would be addressed as soon as possible as it required sufficient resources and comprehensive work. Ghani said that a significant change would be visible in all urban cities of the province in the next four to five months. He refuted the perception built by the media that Larkana was in a state of destitution, and said that the Larkana Development Authority (LDA) would soon be made operational. He stated that there were many issues across the province and the provincial government did not have sufficient resources to resolve them, however, critical issues would be addressed on the priority basis. Ghani asserted that the Local Government Commission would be made functional so that all employees of the local government could get their salaries through their respective district account offices. He warned that ghost employees would not be tolerated in any department. Besides, PPP’s Larkana Mayor Aslam Shaikh and local government department officers were also present on the occasion.
