GUJRANWALA: The Gujranwala Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Shoaib Tariq Warriach on Thursday vowed to implement strict security measures ahead of the Islamic month of Muharram to prevent any untoward incident in Gujranwala. Reportedly, he held a high-level meeting with additional deputy commissioner (general) Dr Rabia Riasat, additional deputy commissioner (headquarter) Nazarat Ali Shah, special branch senior superintendent of police (SSP) Hashim Khan, assistant commissioners of all subdivisions and other concerned officers in his office. He urged unity and harmony in the society for the development and prosperity of the country. He appealed to the clerics for playing their active role in eradicating sectarianism, and advocate tolerance, peace and mutual respect in the society. He issued strict directives to the officers to remove encroachments from the routes of Muharram processions and ensure cleanliness in the district. Published in Daily Times, August 31st 2018.
