LARKANA: Two women, who were victims of an alleged domestic violence, protested in front of the Mohenjo Daro press club on Tuesday, demanding their security and a stern action against the suspects. Reportedly, Saira Soomro accused her husband Rashid Joyo of torturing her for money. She said that she was locked inside a room and beaten up regularly with a stick whenever she had refused to give him money. She further accused her husband of forcing her to take some ‘unknown’ medicines for abortion, and said that he, along with his alleged accomplices, threatened her multiple times after she had shifted to her mother’s home. Meanwhile, in an inheritance case among siblings, Bibi Bashiran Shah said that her five brothers had threatened her with dire consequences if she tried to acquire her share in the inheritance. She said that she had filed a case against her brothers including Mithal Shah, Qarar Shah, Izhar Shah, Zakir Shah and Jinsar Shah, however, police could only arrest one of them. Saira Soomro and Bibi Bashiran appealed to the Larkana Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to take notice of the matters, and take action accordingly with the law to ensure protection of their rights. Police bust 19 gangs, arrest 482 criminals in Larkana Police have busted 19 criminal gangs and detained 355 absconders, 76 proclaimed offenders and 51 active criminals during raids on their suspected hideouts during the last six weeks in Larkana District, according to a monthly report of crime statistics in Larkana. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shabir Sethar further informed the media that three criminals were arrested in injured conditions and another bandit was killed during 21 ‘encounters’ with police. Furthermore, police recovered 15 motor bikes and detained two members of a gang of motorcycle thieves, namely Athar Jatoi and Majid Buriro. He said that another gang was also busted which forged bike documents while further investigation into the matter was underway. He stated that the accused had been inciting teenage boys for stealing motorcycles according to the CCTV footages of the crimes. The SSP further said that officers have also unfolded the mysterious case of a youth identified as Afaq Siyal, who was murdered four days ago in Pir Jo Goth village near Naundero. He said four suspects including Rizwan Shah Rashdi, Qadeer Soomro, Israr Chano and Najiullah Shaikh were arrested by police. Published in Daily Times, August 29th 2018.
