Dengue surveillance and Congo Fever-preventive activities would continue on Eid as special teams would depute for duty during Eid holidays. Primary & Secondary Healthcare Secretary Ali Bahadur Qazi expressed these views while addressing a meeting regarding dengue and Congo Virus via video link on Thursday. He directed to expedite larva sliding activities on public parks, mosques, Eid gahs, graveyards and other public places. He said that in coming months, there are chances to increase breeding of dengue larva, so it is high time to conduct larva sliding activities. The secretary insisted to improve larva reporting and disease surveillance activities. He said that districts with poor performance are being monitored and departments will not tolerate any negligence. Ali Bahadur Qazi added that teams of the health department would continue anti-dengue activities during holidays. He said that those districts that have not yet recruited dengue contingent paid staff should have to complete the recruitment process soon. He directed the chief executive officers of high risk districts like Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and other districts including Toba Tek Singh to pay special attention on surveillance. The health secretary instructed the officers to continue Congo Fever awareness campaign among citizens and directed them to work vigilantly with coordination of district governments and livestock departments. General Health Services Director Dr Munir Ahmed briefed that dengue and Congo Fever reports are being monitored from all the districts on a daily basis.
