An unknown bike rider gunned down a man riding in a car along with a woman near Nazimabad Underpass on Wednesday. According to police, the man who was identified as Asghar died on spot while the woman managed to escape from the scene. Police officials remained tight lipped about the identity of the woman. Reportedly, the woman recorded her statement at Nazimabad Police Station saying that the deceased and she were office mates in a pharmaceutical company. The two were on their way back home when a bike rider opened fire on them. Police officials said that the investigation was underway to ascertain the motive behind the incident. Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested more than 70 suspects including street criminals and drugs peddlers in different parts of city. Garden Police claimed that four suspected street criminals were arrested during a raid. The police said that among them were three drug peddlers. The police officials also said that firearms, stolen cell phones, looted money, stolen motorbikes and 2.35 kilograms (kgs) of hashish were recovered from the suspects. District Central Police claimed that they arrested 31 suspects and recovered 13 pistols, 34 live rounds, 2.845 kg hashish, a car, motorcycle and Rs 20,500 from their possession. Hyderi Market Police claimed to have arrested a drug dealer, identified as Mujeeb-ur-Rehman. The police said that they recovered 1,060 grams of hashish from Rehman. An FIR has been lodged against the suspect and further investigation is underway. Nazimabad police during patrol arrested a man pretending to be a cop. The man, identified as Iqbal, was spotted wearing police uniform. Risala Police arrested a suspected street criminal and claimed to have recovered a loaded pistol from his possession. Police Station Nazimabad in a crackdown against illegal cattle markets arrested twelve suspects and registered a case against them. Published in Daily Times, August 16th 2018.
