The opening of an exclusive art exhibition displaying the paintings of Rida Kazmi took place on Wednesday. The launch event, which was held at Artciti Gallery in DHA Karachi was attended by artists, art lovers, art collectors, general public and the media. The exhibition titled “Azadi” was organised to pay a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives at the time of partition. It focused on themes including the creation of a separate homeland, the genesis of a nation and highlighted the struggles of those who migrated in hopes of a new beginning. This event also brought in focus the anxiety, pain, loss, death and sacrifice of our forefathers. Rida Kazmi tried to present a mix of these emotions in her paintings. Using “acrylic on canvas” as her medium, and bold colors to express emotions, Rida was able to portray the event of Pakistan’s birth in a very intense manner. The exhibition is scheduled to run for five days at ARTCITI. It will be conclude on August 18, 2018. Rida Kazmi completed her Bachelors in Fine Arts from Center of Excellence in Art and Design at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro, Hyderabad.
