GUJRANWALA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment’s (ACE) branch in Gujranwala on Wednesday lodged cases against three revenue officials and a police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for their alleged involvement in corruption and fraud. Reportedly, a citizen Asghar Ali filed an application with ACE, accusing Muhammad Ashraf of preparing a forged land deed with the help of three revenue officials including deputy tehsildar Malik Ansar, land record officer Tahir Mehmood and Gardawar Muhammad Afzal, and transferring his property worth Rs 1 million. Meanwhile, another citizen Muhammad Rashid accused the Daska police station’s ASI of taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 for submitting a report in his favour in a ‘fake’ cheque bounce case. After initial investigations, the ACE found sufficient evidence against the accused, and subsequently lodged cases against them. Published in Daily Times, August 16th 2018.
