The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) issued notices on Saturday to owners of five illegal housing schemes in Rawalpindi and advised general public not to make investment in any illegal housing scheme. RDA directed owners of five illegal housing schemes ie Safari Green Farm Housing Scheme, Adiala, Mahmood Town, Dhamyal Road, T&T extension, Defense Road, Kohsar extension, Taxila Road and Al-Miraj Garden, Chakri road, Rawalpindi to stop illegal advertisements and developments. The notice warned that if the development work and advertisement was not stopped immediately, RDA would seal their site offices in Rawalpindi. Metropolitan Planning & Traffic Engineering (MPTE) Director Jamshed Aftab also requested Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd and Pakistan Telecommunications Limited, not to extend services to these illegal housing schemes as its status is un-approved / illegal. RDA Spokesman Hafiz Muhammad Irfan said RDA Director General Rana Akbar Hayat has directed the MPTE Directorate to take strict action against illegal/unauthorised commercial and residential construction activities, booking offices and encroachments without any fear or favour. RDA also advised general public in their own interest that they should not make any investment in any illegal/unauthorised housing scheme which status is declared illegal by RDA.
