KARACHI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has granted generation licenses to four companies including Tricom Wind Power (Private) Limited (TWPPL), Siddiqsons Energy Limited (SEL), Digri-Gen Limited (DGL) and Al-Arabia Sugar Mills Limited (AASML). NEPRA granted generation license to SEL for its 330.0MW Indigenous / Thar Coal based generation facility located at Energy park Thar Coal Block-II, District Tharparkar, in the province of Sindh. Another generation license was granted by NEPRA to AASML for its 18.00 MW Bagasse based Generation Facility located at 2-km, Khushab – Sargodha Road, Shahpur Sadar, Tehsil Shahpur, District Sargodha. Similarly, NEPRA granted generation license to DGL for its 25.00 MW Bagasse based Generation facility at Matli – Tando Ghulam Ali Road, Deh 153, Taluka Digri, District Mirpurkhas, in the province of Sindh while a generation license was granted by NEPRA to TWPPL for its 50.0 MW Wind Power Plant located at 7/1 Deh Kohistan, Tapo Jhimpir, Taluka and District Thatta in the province of Sindh. Earlier in 2015, the NEPRA granted a generation license to the SEL for the said project. Later on, the PPIB Board decided to implement the above project of the SEL based on indigenous coal of Thar instead of imported coal. In consideration of the said, the NEPRA required the SEL to file a fresh application for generation licence for its generation facility/thermal power plant at new location of Thar coal mines. Over new application the NEPRA approves the grant of generation license to SEL. Adamgee Group of Companies incorporated a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in the name of Tricom Wind Power (Pvt.) Limited (TWPPL). Government of Sindh (GoS) has allocated 347 acres of land to TWPPL in the Jhimpir wind corridor at 7/1 Deh Kohistan, Tapo Jhimpir, taluka and district Thatta for setting up a 50.00 MW generation facility/Wind Power Plant/Wind Farm. The DGL is a 100% owned subsidiary of Digri Sugar Mills Limited which is one of the oldest sugar mills in the province of Sindh. It has a sugarcane crushing capacity of 7,000 TCD and is located at MatliTando Ghulam All Road, taluka Digri, district Mirpurkhas. It already owns, operates and maintains a generation facility/Captive Power Plant (CPP) with an installed capacity of 6.00 MW. Similarly, Al-Arabia Sugar Mills is maintaining and operating an 18.00 MW bagasse based CPP as part of its sugar mill, located at 2 km, Khushab-Sargodha Road, Shahpur Sadar, Tehsil Shahpur, District Sargodha.
