Sir: The recent torching of schools by terrorists in Gilgit Baltistan’s Diamer district have brought back memories of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s reign of terror in Swat. The people of Pakistanare very familiar with this horror.Half a dozen schools were set on fire in 2004. The phenomenon repeated itself in 2011 and 2015. 36 suspects have been arrested for the condemnable incident that transpired in Diamer. The culprits must be punished in accordance with the law and the executers of such atrocities should be held accountable for their actions. Terrorism must be defeated and concrete measures must be taken to pave the way for modern education in Gilgit Baltistan for both boys and girls.
