The first death anniversary of Dr Ruth Pfau is being observed all over Pakistan today. She was a German doctor and nun, who devoted her life to getting rid of leprosy in the country. She passed away at 87 at a hospital in Karachi on August 10, 2017. Due to her selfless efforts, Pakistan was declared leprosy free in 1996 by World Health Organisation (WHO).
