Pakistan’s premier MMA fighter Ahmed Mujtaba launched a local mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, Prime Fight Series, with the partnership of Fitness Fight Club Gujrat, the first event of which is going to be held on Sunday. The inaugural event of Prime, titled Clash of the Titans, will consist of 7 professional MMA fights and 5 amateur ones, while there will also be a couple of Muay Thai battles on the night. Fighters from Russia and Afghanistan are also set to battle alongside local fighters, who aim to make a name for themselves in the country’s growing MMA industry. Speaking about the event and its importance, ex-UGB featherweight champion and Pakistan’s top MMA talent Ahmed Mujtaba said: “I see all the fighters from Pakistan as my family and it’s my responsibility to do something for them. That’s why I created a small show for these guys.” Director Prime Fight Series Adnan Ali said: “We will support MMA and Muay Thai in Pakistan and Insha Allah through this fighting competition, new talent comes will be discovered and the world will admire the PAKMMA athletes.” Fight Card Main Event: Haroon Durrani vs Amanullah Khan (lightweight bout) Co-Main Event: Kamran Iqbal vs Sameer Jutt (featherwight bout) 1st Prelim: Russia’s Mohamed Fattah vs Muhammad Shahid. Pakistan’s MMA industry is rapidly growing with youth from all corners of the country showing keen interest in the sport. Some of the more known names in PakMMA industry are pioneer Bashir Ahmed, Ahmed Mujtaba, and rising talents such as Mehmosh Raza.
