Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate for NA-62 Rawalpindi Sumera Gull on Monday expressed serious reservations over the visit of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar to the under-construction Mother & Child Hospital in Rawalpindi. While addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, Sumera Gul said that the CJP’s visit to the under-construction hospital might influence campaign for the upcoming general elections – to be held on July 25, 2018. She alleged that the Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rasheed is using the CJP’s visit in electioneering which is not only a violation of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) code of conduct but also destroying the dignity of the higher judiciary. Gul along with Chaudhry Iftikhar – candidate for PP-15, Naeem Kiyani – candidate for PP-11 and Nasir Bukhari – candidate for PP-13 maintained that the ECP’s elections code of conduct are same for all the candidates.
