Sir: I would like to point out the need to control the growing air pollution that is plaguing our cities. Air pollution is essentially a mix of solid particles and gases in the air. It is the result of car emissions, chemicals from factories, dust, and more. Right now we are battling the growing problem of smog in our cities. And a solution is needed before the very air we need to breathe to survive becomes the cause of our death. People with heart or lunch disease, older adults, and children are at a greater risk. We need to remember that it isn’t just the outside air that we need to worry about, but also the air inside our homes. If we do not act now, and if we do not act fast, then we are looking at some very hard times to come. It is the responsibility of the government to curb air pollution. Proactive measures are needed to ensure that the situation can be changed for the better. NIMHA TARIQ Karachi Published in Daily Times, June 10th 2018.
