‘Kedarnath’ director takes legal action against Sara Ali Khan for signing Ranveer Singh’s song

Bollywood filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor — whose film Kedarnath has been facing troubles over differences with the producers — has now taken legal action against his lead star, Sara Ali Khan. A Times of India report claimed Abhishek, who is also producing the film, has sent a legal notice to Sara for signing another film before completing his Kedarnath.

Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara was supposed to make her Bollywood debut opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Kedarnath but the film got delayed due to a dispute between Abhishek and film’s former producers, KriArj Entertainment. KriArj later handed over the film’s rights to Abhishek in return for their dues, giving up any production rights on the film. Ronnie Screwvala then joined the film as a producer. The shooting of the film has also been stalled for some time now.

Recently, Rohit announced that he has signed Sara for his Ranveer Singh-starrer Simbaa that is being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. According to the TOI report, Abhishek’s production company Guy In The Sky Pictures has filed a complaint and demanded Rs 5 crore compensation from Sara for alleged dispute of dates.

In the complaint, the producer said Sara agreed to be the female lead for Kedarnath and that she will be available for the shoot as per an agreement made in September 2017, the report said. It further added that when informed in April that the shoot would continue through May till July 5, her agent said Sara won’t not be available in June since she has to go for another film. The complaint calls it a “breach” of the previous agreement.

A vacation bench at Bombay High Court heard Abhishek’s plea and set the matter for hearing on Friday, the report added. Sara and her dad Saif Ali Khan were spotted recently at Abhishek’s house. Were they discussing the issues over Kedarnath? We are yet to know.

Earlier, speaking about the troubles surrounding the Bollywood debut of his daughter, Saif had told Hindustan Times, “I’ve been keeping track of it and, of course, it bothered me because I wanted things to go smoothly with her. I’m very happy that she now has a good film with Karan Johar. I was quite involved with her getting on board with Karan but after that, I can afford again to take a back seat. I’m here if she needs me.”
