LAHORE: As a result of the continuous efforts of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, an expatriate has received Rs 35 million as compensation of his land, acquired for construction of a road. OPC Vice Chairperson Senator Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti informed that Tauqir Ilyas, settled in Manchester, UK, lodged a complaint that his 17 acres of land have been acquired to construct the Eastern Bypass, Tehsil Ferozewala, District Sheikhupura, and compensation of this land may be given to him. This complaint was referred to District OPC Sheikhupura for further proceedings and with the help of members of DOPC; the overseas Pakistani received a sum of Rs 35 million as price of his land. Tauqir Ilyas thanked Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and OPC team for providing help to get the price of his land. Published in Daily Times, May 22nd 2018.
