Judicial activism

Author: Daily Times

Sir: These days one reads news about the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) taking action against senior bureaucrats, government officials and even his own son-in-law with great interest. However, will this action eventually lead to similar efforts against his own fellow black sheep in the legal fraternity?

There is for example, a certain sitting judge in the Sindh High Court who was appointed despite suspicion about him being a tax defaulter. More news has emerged of this very person using his influence to get his nephew into NED on the sports quota, despite him not having any athletic prowess or qualification. When will the CJP take suo motu notice of judges misusing their power?
