KARACHI: A businessman has approached the Chief Justice of Pakistan and Sindh High Court’s chief justice seeking action against the Boat Basin police and a local builder for having
registered a fake case against him.

Aggrieved at the relevant authorities’ inaction, Hakim Ali has written to the chief justices of the Supreme Court and Sindh High Court requesting them to take notice of the matter and order action against them.

He submitted that he had approached the Boat Basin police station to register an FIR about robbery at his shop located in Block No7, Clifton, but to no avail. The construction work was underway on a plot next to his shop, suggesting the hand of local builder Tufail Saddrudin in the robbery.

He stated that when he went to a local court to have the case registered against the builder, and subsequently it ordered the police to do so. The police however who was hand in gloves with the builder has registered a case against him instead, adding that they have also lodged a case against the builder on the directives of the court.

Later on, he submitted, when it transpired that the additional district and session judge (South) had not given any directions for registration of the case against him, he approached the court. The court afterwards asked SSP South to carry out an inquiry into the matter.

Subsequently, the police inquiry revealed that Boat Basin police in connivance with the builder misinterpreted the court orders to register a fake case. The court, therefore, quashed the case.

However, those responsible, including sub-inspector Zulifqar and investigation officer Raja Khalid, were let go scot-free as the higher authorities did not take any action against them. The two officers were still posted at the same police station. Besides, he said the builder has also gone unpunished.

Malik has pleaded the judges to take notice of the matter and order action against the builder and other responsible officers.
