ISLAMABAD: Principal Information Officer (PIO) Rao Tehseen Ahmed on Tuesday filed a defamation suit in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against three TV anchors for holding him responsible for Dawn leaks. The anchors, Kamran Khan, Jasmine Manzoor and Suleman Mirza, had been nominated in the petition as respondents besides the Interior Ministry, Information Ministry, Dawn Leaks Inquiry Committee and PEMRA. The petition stated that a news report appeared on media on February 6, 7 and 8, which claimed that the Dawn Leaks Inquiry Committee had issued its report. Dunya TV anchor Kamran Khan had declared the petitioner responsible for the leaks. He said News One anchor Jasmine Manzoor and ARY’s Salman Mirza also levelled allegations on him. The petition stated that the Interior and Information ministries did not take action against the anchors and TV channels in this regard. Tehseen said he was falsely declared as responsible for the leaks. He added the anchors and TV channels had committed contempt of court under the Inquiry Act 1956. The petitioner requested to order the Interior and Information ministries to take action against the anchors and TV channels.
