LAHORE: A course on Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) has began at the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) Regional Centre Lahore. According to details, Professor Duncan Edches from Canada was the guest in this course. FMC Principal Professor Rakhshanda Rahman welcomed the other guests associated with the ALSO course. CPSP National Residency Programme Director Professor Mahmood Ayyaz briefed the participants about the ALSO course. He added that CPSP was organising this course in its 14 regional centres all over the country including Karachi Head Quarters, Islamabad and the Lahore Centre. He said that CPSP organised 24 ALSO courses since 2015 until 2018 in which 505 doctors were trained by international standard training. The CPSP also organised seven ALSO instructor courses in which 87 senior doctors were trained to become an instructor in this course. After becoming an instructor, they can give internationally standard training to the young doctors. CPSP International Relations Director General Professor Khalid Masood Gondal said that in Pakistan, especially in the rural areas, the death ratio of women during the birth of a baby is very high. This course will train the doctors to provide best health facilities to the patients during pregnancy and child birth that will be helpful ing reducing the death ratio of women. On this occasion, Professor Mahmood Ayyaz, Professor Muhammad Tayyab, Professor Rakshanda Rahman, Professor Rizwana Chaudhry, Professor Brigadier Shahla Baki, Professor Lubna Ejaz, Professor Nudrat Sohail, Professor Shamsa Humayun, Professor Noreen Akmal and other senior professors were present.
