LAHORE: Pakistan national team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed on Saturday said that if it was up to him, he would have taken all 25 players to the United Kingdom. “If it was up to me, I would have taken all 25 players to the tour. But, we could only select 16 out of the 25 and I believe, the selection committee has accumulated the best possible combination,” Sarfaraz said while speaking to the media in Lahore. He, however, asked those who were not selected for to tour to keep their heads up. “It happens. Sometimes, some players are not selected, while others are. It is not as if the ones not selected this time would not get future opportunities. We are continuously providing opportunities to youngsters,” Sarfaraz added. Speaking about the possibilities of line-ups in the UK, Sarfaraz said that the match-squad will be selected according to the needs. “We have Shadab who can spin the bowl both ways. But since the conditions in the UK favour faster bowlers, we will see if we can line-up a spinner in the squad or not,” the skipper said. Pakistani team will depart to the United Kingdom on Monday, where they will face Ireland on May 11 in the first Test of the tour, while the team will also face England in two Test matches.
