ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) Federally Administred Tribal Agency Mohmand branch conducted a two-day training for Community Focal Persons (CFPs) under Community Based Risk Education & Victims Assistance (CBRE/VA) programme at PRC Mohmand office Ekkaghund on Friday. Volunteers from different tehsils of the agency participated with great zeal and spirit. CBRE/VA Project Officer Ubaidullah from PRC FATA, PRC Mohmand Agency Secretary Fauzee Khan, CBRE/VA Agency Officer Afzal Khan, PRC Mohmand Agency Programme Officer Irfanullah, CBRE/VA educators Amjad Ali and Behlol Khan also participated and delivered a presentations in the training. Fauzee Khan welcomed and briefed the participants regarding the overall PRC Mohmand Agency activities in the area. He urged the volunteers to learn more things in the said trainings and convey their messages to the backward areas of the agency. “PRC Mohmand office doors are always open for everyone, therefore volunteers must come so that they can learn skills for the community welfare,” Fauzee said. He said that PRC is a voluntary organisation and auxiliary to the government which has responded in natural and manmade disasters in the tribal areas. PRC responded in Internally Displaced Persons Bajaur, 2010 floods in Mohmand, Bajaur, non-food items food in North Waziristan/Khyber agencies in 2014-16, he added. Giving a detailed presentation on CBRE/VA, Ubaidullah informed that FATA and KP are weapon contaminated areas and due to conflict, explosive remnants of war are found in these areas which is a bigrisk for the population. He said in this connection, PRC conducted 17,209 mine risk awareness sessions, referring 152 disabled for physical rehabilitation. He said that CBRE/VA main objectives are to minimise the injuries of tribesmen occurring due to land mines and unexploded ordnances in the area. He said that everybody knows the damages and destruction due to the conflict in the area like houses, infrastructure, properties, life everything were lost and tribesmen are the most vulnerable and deserving.At the end of the training, certificates were distributed among the participants.
