ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) on Monday officially announced the schedule of the National Examination Board (NEB) exams for the year 2018. The plan which was announced for the first time in the history of PMDC aimed at facilitating the foreign graduate in order to save their precious time. The PMDC NEB exams will be held under the supervision of National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS). According to the details of the schedule, the first examination of 2018, step II for medical and dental graduates will be held May 13, 2018 comprising of clinical subjects and step III will be on June 30, July 1, July 7 and July 8 and will be based on an objective structured clinal exam/VIVA. It is pertinent to mention here that the the registration exams for foreign medical graduates was held on Sunday at Islamabad Pak China Friendship Centre and Army Medical College, Rawalpindi in collaboration with NUMS in which 3,128 candidates appeared out of which 1,000 appeared at the Army Medical College and 2,128 at Pak China Centre Islamabad. The exams were held successfully. Parents and students expressed their full satisfaction on the holding of the successful exams and expressed the hope that PMDC will continue serving medical graduates. Despite a huge number of students, the exam was held in a very disciplined and organised manner. All types of security measures were taken with strict care. In order to ensure transparency and fairness in the exams, the PMDC Adhoc council members also visited the exam centres. PMDC expressed satisfaction over the arrangements at the time of the visit made by NUMS for holding the exams successfully. The step I of the second phase of NEB exams for medical dental graduates will be held on November 25 based on basic subjects. The step II NEB exams will be based on clinical subjects on December 23. Simultaneously, the step III will be based on OSCE/VIVA and will be held on January 19, January 20, January 26 and January 29, 2019. Published in Daily Times, April 17th 2018.
